Alliances and Friendly Guilds

Post by The Scribe on Sun Sep 09, 2012 9:50 am

Many of these have fallen silent in recent weeks but will be preserved for historical sake and as a way to promote activity.

Currently active alliance/partner guild

The Grim Brotherhood [GRIM]
Leader: Frost SongShadow
Account name: Kingmutez.4931
HERO contact initiated by: Baroness Robyn

He says that they do Dungeons every night and WvW on Fridays. If you cannot find a guild group, you can pm him, tell him that you are with HERO and that you would like to join them. Please remember that in order for our Guild to gain the influence, you MUST represent HERO. Have fun.

Alliance
http://risingdragoon.com/forum.php
Our mutually agreed upon terms are:
*We do not recruit from each other's guilds.
*Each guild's members are fully welcome to use the other's Mumble at will.
*The alliance exists primarily to increase the availability of like-minded people to play together.

Characteristics of The Guild (as observed by Bunny):
*Adult
*More white-collar to our blue-collar. (This is a comparative note and not 100% applicable.)
*Small but active
*Generous
*More farm-oriented to our story-orientation
*Multi-game compared to our single-game

Etymology:
Beef and Bear chatted in-game and worked out initial interest. Bear asked Bunny about further exploration of the alliance, Bunny agreed exploration was in order. Bear sent Mumble info to Beef. Beef joined Bear and Bunny on HERO's Mumble. The above terms were worked out and the alliance was struck.

Well this just gets more interestinger and interestinger.

Tonight on the shores of Orr, I met Ryogen who asked me what my guild was all about. He listened to my spiel and then asked to meet me on Mumble to discuss WvW. I was using The Guild's Mumble at the time and figured that if we were candidates, then so was The Guild.

The discussion went well; this guy seems to be a catalyst to forge a WvW alliance for Stormbluff Isle. He copied both guild's mumble info and our website and will get back to us Monday or Tuesday to further discuss the matter. His current observations are that it would only take one reasonably well organized alliance to put Stormbluff Isle on the WvW map and he is not asking for hard-core commitments. Beef and I made it clear we are not looking to join militant organizations - that we felt there would be participation from both guilds but that any demands or pressure would quickly be met with an explicit message where to put such communications. Ryogen assured us that he felt very much the same way. In the end it looks like we have basically identified a third sister guild at the very least.

Then Beef and Xaber excused themselves to their officer's channel. When they returned then told me they had discussed the fact that they were not on Stormbluff Isle and would not benefit from this arrangement, so they decided to move to Stormbluff Isle.

Ryogen is the leader of Rising Dragon at RisingDragon.com. They have a Ventrilo server, but since both of our guilds run Mumble he is considering switching - he says Mumble is the hot VOIP of the season anyway...

Interestinger and interestinger.

They look to be an Aion community making the move into GW2, from a brief review of their recruiting forum it looks like many old members are returning to active duty. Having an "alliance" of guilds will be very useful for pvp im sure. From what I have seen in WvW you cannot achieve much alone, single players get singled out and hunted down so you are much better off having a small team to move around the map with.

Ryogen said pretty much the same to Beef and I on Mumble Monday night. He uses Aion terms a lot when talking about GW2. He is looking for willing, voluntary participation on an as-the-will-arises basis.

Here is where Guild Armor might serve us well, especially using agreed-upon guild colors. We would be able to pick each other out on the battle field and we would be marked "Do Not Disturb." That said, a durable and willing out-of-uniform decoy is often a very useful hunter's tool. Such decoy would also have to be fairly easy to pick out on the battlefield...

Item from GW2 Devs that may be of interest to Beef and Co.

"The other topic is guild influence and changing servers. While we try to balance out server population we have asked you to switch servers. We are aware that you’re losing your guild upgrades and influence in the process is a barrier for doing this, so we are investigating if there is a way for us to mitigate this. Just wanted to let you know that we aware of this and are not ignoring it. Alas, I can not give you an ETA on this either."

We have 3 more allies now. I will list them in separate posts as I gather information about them. Here is the first I have made contact with:

Name: PimpS
Tag: [PIMP]
Leadership: TresDragon and Glamorous.
Website: http://www.pimpsguild.com/
Ventrilo
--Name: PIMP
--Address: atlanta3.nationvoice.com
--Port: 3908

Our mutually agreed upon terms are:
*We do not recruit from each other's guilds.
*Each guild's members are fully welcome to use the other's VoIP at will.
*The alliance part of a PvP intended alliance to advance PvP play without sacrificing identity or PvE fun.

Characteristics of The Guild (as observed by Bunny):
*Adult
*7 years old and growing
*moves through games one game at a time (for the most part)
